There has been growing dissent among members of the coalition Government in Greece. This is manifested by the recent quitting of the two important members of the Socialist Party on grounds of dissent regarding the policies that are being adapted by their colleagues.The decision of both Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou and Michalis Kassis to quit weeks before the election has raised further questions regarding the mutual consensus among the different members of the Socialist Party. What was initially perceived as a radical communion has proved to be more of a conservative association choosing the same old ‘dead-end policies’ according to Xenogiannakopoulou.
Being formed after last June, the Party has started developing cracks in recent times in the backdrop of economic tension that has left many of the Greek workers unemployed. Also having lost its grounds in the recent elections the party has become more volatile with regards to its being decisive in matters of labor rights.
