Since the much anticipated iphone 5 is assumed to be released on this summer, its time for the consumers to decide which network carrier they should opt for, AT&T or Verizon.
In a recent press conference Verizon declared that iPhone will not be available solely on AT&T. From February 10 onwards, the Verizon iPhone 4 will be available and Verizon customers will be able to place the orders for iPhone 4 starting February 3. This is great news for the consumers, since they can enjoy more options, more features in addition to getting iPhone at cheaper prices. People were expecting this news for a long time, many even have decided to leave AT&T for Verizon Wireless because of AT&T ‘s certain limitations such as Skype, Google Voice prevention.
However, if you are tied with AT&T contract at present, you should read the contract thoroughly. AT&T of late changed their Early Termination Fees, so if you are willing to shift to Verizon network, you will have to pay $325, minus $10 for every full month you’ve been on contract. If you get your iPhone prior to June 1, 2010, the fee will be lowered at $175, minus $5 for each month on AT&T. Moreover, you should check whether your number can be ported to Verizon before you switch to this carrier. Check your number portability here.
As Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs is most likely to unveil their upcoming iphone 5 this summer, we can expect this will be available at both Verizon and AT&T network.
