With the debate on SOPA becoming hot, the anti-piracy battle between the Hollywood and Silicon Valley is becoming the talk of the town. Hollywood is seriously fighting with Silicon valley over their legitimate right to make money online.
The entertainment industry based in Hollywood has asked the non US websites to be treated in the same line as the US ones. This initiative is being challenged by the technical giants Facebook and Google as they feel that if SOPA is passed, it will not only make the movement on the Internet slower, but will also have a negative impact on their income and also future.
The legislators of the US Congress were forced to hold back the anti-online piracy legislation following tremendous pressure from Silicon Valley giants including Google and Wikipedia. The next week’s vote on Protect IP Act (PIPA) has also been deferred. Meanwhile, the American Federation of Musicians, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Screen Actors Guild have asked the Government not to bow under pressure.
