Is this the picture of independence in Egypt? When Mubarak stepped down on 11th February, celebrations were going on in the Tahrir square on the end of 30 years of rule of a dictator. Lara Logan, a CBS correspondent was covering the event when some loons surrounded her, took her forcibly and raped her.
She was finally rescued by a group of 20 women and some Egyptian soldiers. Lara Logan has finally come back to the United States and is being treated in a hospital. Some websites are expressing the view that this could have happened on any day as she was a blonde and quite attractive looking.
Civilized people are just stunned to go by this argument. If a woman is good looking and attractive, does that mean that the people around have got the license to rape and molest her. She does not have the right to live in dignity?
Commenting on the Lara Logan affair, some websites have mentioned that Lara Logan was two timing with Joe Burkett and Michael Ware while she was in Iraq and both these men fought with each other over Lara Logan.
If this is the face of democracy to the people of Egypt, then many more Lara Logan will be lying on the streets. The military rulers or the next political rulers of this Muslim country must take these matters seriously. Are the blog owners jealous of the good looks of Lara Logan? We all hope that she recover soon and let all Egyptian women live in peace.
