Avrat Humarthi, the Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook said, “After March 15th the whole website shuts down,” He further added, “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back once Facebook goes out of business.”
Zuckerberg clarifies that the decision to shut down this extremely popular social networking website was not easy, but that he does not believe that people will be too upset without a Facebook account.
When asked in a private interview, he explains, Facebook ending doesn’t end life. People can still go out to make real life friends instead of friends that only exist in the virtual world.
However, since after the news has been publicized, many users have become mad upon Facebook shutdown.
A high school student named Kavin James, said, Facebook is such a crucial part of his life that his world revolves around it. And without it his life will become just miserable sionce he spends most of his leisure time on Facebook.
Whatever reaction the kids show, the news has definitely made their parents very happy, and they think Facebook addiction in reality, has made their children very unsocial as most of the time they are glued to the computers.
Apart from the social reactions, the financial circle is also not too happy with Zuckerberg’s decision. Facebook being a multibillion dollar franchise should not have been shut down. The website is at present ranked as one of the most profitable businesses in the world, with an approximate value of 7.9 billion.
But Zuckerberg still remains cool by these criticisms and says he is determined to close it down b March. “I don’t care about the money,” said Zuckerberg. “I just want my old life back.”
The Facebook Corporation already declared that users should take away all of their personal information from the website prior to March 15th. After that date, all images, links, notes and videos will be permanently removed from Facebook.
