On Wednesday a video footage of semi-naked Jarawa tribal women has taken media by storm. In the rarest form of indecency a middleman was lured by some UK tourists to make a semi naked Jarawa tribal woman dance in front of them.
Once the news reached the corridors of capital, the Centre reacted quickly and has asked the Andaman and Nicobar administration to conduct an enquiry and submit a report. It has been known that the tout was given 200 pounds by the UK tourists to fulfill their “basic instinct” of life. The Jarawa tribal girls were lured to dance in exchange of food.
The incident has been condemned by the Union Tribal Affairs Minister V. Kishore Chandra Deo describing the incident as “obnoxious and disgusting”. As per reports available with the administration only 403 Jarawa tribals are alive living a secluded life in the reserved forest of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
It has also been known that the Indian administration may bring a prosecution charge against the videographer who took the video of the Jarawa dance for a British Newspaper website.
