Few days ago we came across a rumor that the price of Wii will be dropped in May. Well, it is no longer a rumor as all major online retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Gamestop and Toys R Us have already listed the new price which has been set for a standard Wii hardware bundle. It seems that the expected price cut may even come earlier. The standard Wii bundle can be availed at just $169 instead of $199.99 which was the previous price of this product. With every pack of Wii the customers will get aWii Remote Plus, a Nunchuk controller, Wii Sports and Wii Sports Plus.
The console supports all previous controller configurations which were used by Wii and with the present improved capabilities of the Wii Remote Plus controller will provide a new and more experienced player with the ultimate new technique to set up or increase a Wii party in their homes.
As of March 2011, Nintendo has sold out over 35 million Wiis in the U.S. According to the industry report the sales showed a continuous decline in 2010, which is quite obvious since the console was released in 2006. In Nintendo’s Q3 report it was evident that the profit was down by 46 percent
Hence the price drop is quite justifiable for the company in order to augment the sales figures.
