A 24 year old Indian batsman from Gujarat -Cheteshwar Pujara, has been continuously compared with the “dependable” Rahul Dravid on his skills while he has a lot to prove till he becomes his successor in the Indian cricket team.
A continuous appeal by Indian cricket legends to avoid comparisons between cricketers has no effect on cricket fans. Many still believe that Pujara has the capabilities and skills similar to Rahul Dravid- cricketer who has given 15 years of his career leading the Indian cricket team through tough times and gaining a title of “The Wall” by its fans, critics and supporters.
The recent double century scored by Pujara at Motera against England has been a talk of the town. Intrestingly; he is the only second Indian batsmen till date to score a double century against England.
Though Pujara reviewed his skills being modeled on the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar, supporters find it hard to believe.Indian legends Saurav Ganguly & Kapil Dev have appreciated Pujara’a performance in recent matches and unanimously think that Pujara should be given some time to hone his skills on pitches abroad before any comparisons of him is being made with Rahul Dravid. Pujara has only been a part of 2010-11 Indian tour yet and has a Test series ahead of him where he can prove his metal again.
