The dearth of practicing nurses in USA has been increasing by leaps and bounds. The reasons for such a phenomenon are given below. There is a definite lack of educators which is not able to keep track with the huge number of retiring nurses.
With the increasing demand of nurses for baby care, the demand and supply balance is not being met. The number of trained nurses in all fields, mainly baby care is pretty low. A major lack of nurses in the nursing industry is due to the fact that nurses are leaving the job even prior to retirement.
Major reasons include work related pressure, high number of patients, bad treatment by colleagues and a professed inability to give safe, effectual care. Patients on the other hand suffer and need to wait for frustratingly long hours in order to receive good care. The field of baby care is hence suffering the most.
The treatment of seniors towards fellow junior nurses is abysmal and so is the behaviour of doctors towards nurses. Adding to their misery is the brash and rude patients who scream and yell at the nurses. It hence becomes too much for any nurse to handle. Even in the field of baby care, the parents are at times pretty demanding.
Thus even though nursing can be very tough and demanding, both physically and emotionally, yet it’s arguably the noblest profession and hence young nurses must continue to strive for the betterment of their occupation.
