In last few years there is a rapid decline in the number of admissions taking place in engineering colleges. Now the same trend can be observed in various MCA colleges in the state which may lead to shutting down of the colleges due to low admissions. Though record suggests around 129 MCA colleges and 402 MBA colleges have got 100 per cent admissions, but at the same time nearly 159 MCA colleges have witnessed zero admissions in the Icet seat allotment list that was published on Tuesday.
The demand for MBA courses has also dropped significantly with nine MBA colleges recording zero admissions. Students qualified in Icet (Integrated Common Entrance Test) are qualified to go for MBA and MCA courses and this year a majority of them has chosen the MBA courses. Out of total 31,181 MCA seats, which was the number of seats offered in the Icet Web-based counselling, was filled only 9,443, leaving 21,738 seats vacant.
