Vijay With Help From Jayalalitha Makes Nanban A Huge Success

It is really a comeback year for the Kollywood star Vijay. During the last Pongal, no theatre in Chennai and Tamilnadu was ready to show his release Kaavalan which later became a blockbuster in Bollywood when it was made a remake in the name of Bodyguard.

This Pongal, the film industry saw a different Vijay as his new film Nanban has been released in 450 theaters in Tamilnadu alone and most of them are in the best theaters. In Chennai city alone, about 27 screens are filming the movie, which is being considered to be a remake of Three Idiots.

If his film gives him huge success, then Vijay will establish himself as the ruling emperor of Tamil cinema. People are saying that this complete U-turn in his career has been made possible with the change in power in Tamilnadu. Last year, during the Pongal, DMK was in power and most of the big theaters in the state were controlled by big production houses which are owned by the kith and kin of the ex Tamil Chief Minister Karunanidhi. Vijay fell out of line with the family and hence none of the theatres agreed to screen his film.

With the change of guard in Tamilnadu, Nanban was released in all the big and small theatres of Chennai and the tickets of the movie are also selling like a hotcake, making Vijay a superstar again. Nanban has got released in 25 screens in the UK and is the first ever Tamil movie to be released in France with French subtitles.

AIADMK Government has also forgiven the 30% entertainment tax on Nanban, resulting in loss of revenue of the Government.
