Veteran Arsenal manager and a fantastic mentor of some world class footballers, Arsene Wenger reached a landmark in his wonderful career. The manager reached his 1000th game when Arsenal played against Chelsea in a great London derby.
Alex Ferguson, another stalwart and a superb expert who had been associated with Manchester United for around thirty years congratulated Wenger on reaching such a height, giving justice to his fantastic professional career.
Wenger and Ferguson had ben foes as there was a strong rivalry between their sides. Such was the intense of rivalry that the two did not exchange a single word between each other for five years after a match in Old Trafford in 2004, which ended a 49 match unbeaten record for the Gunners.
Ahead of the London derby, the former ManU boss kept aside the old rivalry and exclaimed that it was dedication, resilience and tremendous sacrifice from Wenger that has brought such a glory to his career. Emphasizing on Wenger’s professional moves and tactics, the Scot said that he has spent many burning hours pondering deep thoughts on how to counter the master mind of Wenger.
Wenger was presented a golden cannon by the gunners on Friday. He registered his name as the fourth manger in English club football to reach the landmark of 1000 games.
